The two-day U.S. Coins Signature Auction by Heritage Auctions began on 13th December in Beverly Hills. Early U.S. gold, type coins, CAC-approved coins certified by NGC and PCGS, and a set of silver commemorative coins are being offered at the event.

One of the highlights is a 1907 Indian Wire Edge $10 Gold Coin, graded MS-66 by PCGS. Sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed several important US coins. Apart from Victor David Brenner’s one cent design, every U.S. coin struck along with the new $10 and $20 gold pieces in 1907 were replaced by elegant sculptural designs.

The $10 Indian is the best of the lot because its sculpture is clean and Indian headdress is impressive. The African-American model Harriet Anderson was the reference behind Miss Liberty. She worked for Saint-Gaudens’ $20 design as well. Only 17 such coins have been graded MS-66 by PCGS. * such coins have been graded finer. A similar MS 66 coin with a CAC sticker from the Crow River Collection was sold by Legend Rare Coin Auctions in October 2017 for $135,125 USD. The offered coin has a mint-made angular depression near the rim on the reverse. It is being auctioned at an opening bid of $80,000.
