Sultan Dilawar Quarter Rupee

This silver Quarter Tanka was issued by Sultan Dilawar of Rajas of Arakan and Government of Chittagong. He had ruled to the region of Sandwip island; a coast few miles away from Chittagong. He was an appointed as a governor of Sandwip Island by the Arakanese in the year 1617 CE. Later in the year 1665; it was captured by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Sultan Dilawar was imprisoned by Aurangzeb in Dhaka (Jahangirnagar) where he died.This silver Quarter Tanka is listed for INR 1,50,000 an auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery Auction house which will be held in Pune on 14th December 2018. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with Arabic legend ‘Sultan Dilawar Ausaf Shah Amoor’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the Arakanese legend ‘Min Re Kyaw Htien’.
