Bank Indonesia Demonetises Old Currency Notes

As per an official announcement made on 25th November, Bank Indonesia is going to stop circulating certain old banknotes. These include the Rp10,000 note issued in 1998 depicting an image of national hero Tjut Njak Dhien, the Rp20,000 note of 1998 featuring an image of Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the Rp50,000 note of 1999 featuring an image of WR Soepratman, and the Rp100,000 bill of 1999 depicting a picture of Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta.Members of the public have been asked to get the notes mentioned above, exchanged and replaced with the new 2016 versions of the same denominations. All Bank Indonesia offices will accept these old notes for exchange until 30th December 2018. Special services will be offered by the bank on 29th and 30th December.
