Bengal Sultanate Silver Tanka Listed For INR 70,000

In the Hijri Year, 726 Muhammad bin Tughluq re-established Ghiyath Al-Din Bahadur as the Governor of East Bengal in Sunargoan. Later; after two years, Ghiyath Al-Din Bahadur issued gold and silver coins bearing his name and the name of Muhammad bin Tughluq. These coins were struck by the order of Ghiyath Al-Din Bahadur, who trusts in Allah Muhammad Tughluq. But, in the later years, it was regarded as the act of rebellion. Ghiyath Al-Din Bahadur has a rebellion against his Delhi master Muhammad Bin Tughluq and this had led to his unfortunate death.This very rare silver tanka was issued by Ghiyath-Al-Din Bahadur which he issued in the name of Muhammad Bin Tughluq. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Duriba Bi-Amr Al-Wathiq Billah Muhammad Bin Tuhluq Shah’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Al-Sultan Al-Muazzam Ghiyath Al-Dunya Wa’l Din Abul Muzaffar Bahadur Shah Al-Sultan Bin Sultan’. This silver tanka is listed for INR 70,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery which will be held in Pune on 14th December 2018.
