Zambia is soon going to introduce new banknotes with improved security features to curb counterfeiting activities and protect the integrity of their national currency. Officials have stated that new security features have been incorporated to protect the Zambian kwacha in 2018.
The new security features on banknotes include a dynamic geometrical pattern which changes its shape and size upon tilting the note. A gold iridescent band denoting doves stretches from top to bottom of the note. Tactile imprints have also been incorporated along the edges of the notes to help the visually impaired persons identify denominations easily.
Both the new and old notes will circulate simultaneously until the old ones are completely phased out gradually.
