Curacao and the First Stamp

Curacao – a country within the Kingdom of Netherlands issued its first stamp on 10th October 2010 dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles.

The Netherlands Antilles was an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands which was dissolved on 10 October 2010. After that Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba Islands became special municipalities.

On the other hand, Curacao and Saint Maarten became constituent countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Known by the name Country of Curacao, it includes the main island of Curacao and the uninhabited island of Klein Curacao with the capital is Willemstad.

On the very same day, Curacao issued the first stamp. Denominated 111 Netherlands Antillean cents the stamp futures the map of the island along with a highlight to the capital city. Along with that the stamp also features the position of the country on the globe and the flag on the upper right side of the stamp. On the bottom left corner the Coat of Arms of the country can be seen.
