USPS recently released a Forever stamp honouring the legendary musician and Popstar John Lennon. An inauguration ceremony was organised at Central Park, New York which was attended by the great Beatles singer’s widow Yoko Ono and son Sean Lennon. The stamps feature a famous photo taken in 1974 by Bob Gruen.
Apart from music, John Lennon also liked collecting stamps from a very young age. One of his personal collections was showcased at the World Stamp Show in New York City in 2016. The same collection is at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum.
The photo featured on the latest stamp was taken during the Walls and Bridges photo session in 1974. The stamp design looks like a 45? vinyl single. An image of a record protruding from its sleeve is depicted at the top of the 16-stamp sheet.
