Remote Coral Atolls Pictured on Stamps from New Zealand

New Zealand Post released a set of four stamps called “Tokelau From the Sky” on 5th September. The stamps feature aerial photographs of one of the most remote places of the world - Tokelau, taken by New Zealand Post designer Saint Andrew Matautia.Tokelau is a territory of New Zealand that comprises of three coral atolls in the South Pacific. Atafu is shown on the 45¢ and $2 stamps. It is the smallest of the three atolls with 42 coral islets covering a land mass of almost 1 square mile. The $1.40 stamp features Fakaofo while the $3 stamp depicts a photo of Nukunonu. Fakaofo has 61 islets that cover a land area of almost 1.2 square miles while Nukunonu is the largest atoll with 30 islets and a land area of more than 2 square miles.
The stamps were printed by offset in sheets of 16 at the Collectables and Solutions Centre of New Zealand Post.
