India - Papua New Guinea Joint Stamp Issue

In the commemoration of the diplomatic relations between India and Papua New Guinea (PNG), both countries have issued a set of two commemorative postage stamps on the theme of national birds.India and PNG are commonwealth countries which enjoy warm and cordial relations. The relations between the two countries initiated when Indian Resident Mission was opened in the other country.
The joint stamps, which were issued in the significance of the bilateral relationship between the two, feature national birds of the respective countries. Peacock in case of India and Bird of Paradise!
The Indian stamps were issued with the denominations of rs.25 and rs.5 depicting Peacock and Bird of paradise respectively while the PNG stamps come with the denomination K10 for the bird of paradise and K1.45 for Peacock.
Earlier Peacock was depicted in the joint stamp issue with France.
