Silver Tanka of Tripura

Issued in the reign of Radha Kishore Deb Barman Manikya, this silver coin was sold for INR 4, 50,000 by the Todywalla Auction.This machine stuck coin is citing queen Tulasavati and weighs around 8.8g minted in the year TE 1306/ AD 1896. The obverse of this coin depicts Coat of Arms of the state with date above it within the ornamented border made of small arches.
The reverse of this coin depicts a legend in five lines, which reads ‘Radha Krishna Pade/ Sri Sri Yuta Radha Kishora/ Deb Barmma Manikya/ Sri Srimati Tulasivati/ Maha Devyau’ within a beaded border.
This is an extremely rare specimen and most of the silver coins of King Radha Kishore reign were stuck in rupee standards. Some of the lightweight coins are also known.
