2018-06-29 Fri
The Gambia is a small West African country, bounded by Senegal, with a narrow Atlantic coastline. It's known for its diverse ecosystems around the central Gambia River. Abundant wildlife in its Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve includes monkeys, leopards, hippos, hyenas and rare birds. The capital city of Banjul and nearby Serrekunda city offer access to beautiful and serene beaches. The Dalasi is the currency of the Gambia which is subdivided into 100 bututs. Replacing the Gambian pound at a rate of 1 Pound = 5 Dalasis, the Dalasi was adopted in 1971. In 1971, coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 Bututs and 1 Dalasi were introduced. Banknotes currently in circulation are 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 200 Dalasis.
