Australia Post issued a new special stamp celebrating the 50th Year of New Australian Decimal Currency.Since 1966, Australia is using new currency replacing British-style currency with decimal notes and coins. The three-unit system replaced by two units hence and new designs were created for banknotes, coins as well as stamps.
As a part of the celebration of the completion of 50 years of this new era, Australia Post issued a Special Stamp.
The $1 stamp features the images of new $1 banknote and coin along with the image of £1 banknote which was replaced.
With this idea, converting monetary machines; training banking and retail staff; and a huge public education campaign came hand in hand.
