2018-06-06 Wed
The '5/6 Interchange' is one of the architectural wonders of modern times built in Qatar. The arches at Interchange 5/6 are the biggest and tallest monument in Qatar with a height of 100 meters and width of 147 meters, and weighing more than 9,300 tonnes of steel. They were built on the Lusail Expressway which is another infrastructural marvel. It was inaugurated officially on Qatar National Day last year.Qatar Post and Ashghal recently released a postage stamp to celebrate the completion of this project. Important dignitaries from both the organisations were present at the launch event of the stamp that was conducted at Ashghal headquarters.
Officials mentioned that the 5/6 Interchange is a Qatari landmark that showcases the country’s past, future, and maritime heritage. The stamps depict images of 5/6 interchange and the arches that symbolise stability and the nation's resilience to challenges.
The postage stamp can be scanned using an augmented reality application Qatar Stamps and a short film will be played that shares information of '5/6 Interchange. This technology is a revolution in philately and the Middle East had never applied it on postage stamps until now.
