Bengal Sultan Sikandar Bin Ilyas (AD 1357-1389) was son of Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah. He was the second Sultan of Bengal. He was also the second sultan of Ilyas Shah Dynasty. The full name of Sikandar Shah was Abul Mujahid Sikandar Shah.Sikandar Shah had struck his coin in gold, silver, and copper. One of the most interesting facts of the Sikandar Shah’s coins is types and varieties. His coins are found in various designs and legends, from the plain designs to most artistic form.
This rare quarter tanka issued by him weighs around 2.6g. This coin was sold for INR 11,200 in Classical Numismatic Gallery Auction held in Delhi on 19th May 2018.
