This beautiful Quarter Paisa was issued by Mysore king Tipu Sultan from the mint Zafarabad. The obverse of this coin depicts an image of an elephant with Maludi year above. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the mint name Zafarabad.The interesting thing about this coin is a retro date written above an elephant. The Mauludi year written above is read as 1218, but it is a retro date for 1216.
This quarter paisa weighs around 2.8g. This very rare quarter paisa was sold for INR 15000 at Oswal Auction.
