Tomar Quarter Billion Tanka
2018-05-26 Sat
Tomar was one of the earliest medieval Indian dynasties, they ruled the part of northern India during the 9th and 12th century. They had also ruled the large part of Indian Dynasty which includes the large part of Delhi and Haryana. The earliest reference of Tomar had occurred in ‘Pehowa’ inscription which was issued during the reign of Pratihara and Mahendrapala. Tomars claim that they were descendants of Arjuna, the legendary hero of Mahabharata. However, much information about this clan comes from bardic legends of little historical value and therefore, reconstruction of their history is very difficult.
This quarter Billion Tanka which weighs around 3.8g was issued from the Tomar of Gwalior.
