Sultani coin of Jahangir

Depicted here is a silver half Rupee or ‘Sultani’ of Jahangir. It is one of the rare coin with Jahangir’s pre-accession name ‘Salim’ depicted on it. This coin was minted at Kabul in 1015 AH.The obverse of this coin is inscribed with Persian legend ‘Zarb Kabul Ba Naam Salim Shah’. The reverse of this coin bores the legend ‘Khallada Allah Mulkahu Abda’ (may Allah perpetuate his kingdom forever). The reverse legend in this type uniquely includes the word Abda ('forever') with the usual praise.
This coin was sold for INR 32,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery.
