Almost 140 coins featuring Queen Victoria were discovered in Harinahalli Village in Periyapatna, Mysore Karnataka. The coins were found by workers while digging a trench for constructing a house. After the workers found the silver coins, they did not inform anyone and tried selling them at a broker shop.
Someone later informed the concerned police officials who seized the coins and also filed a case. A tunnel and a stone inscription were also discovered at the same site. Villagers flocked down to take a look at these interesting finds. Experts believe that the coins were struck in 1840, however, the final report about the discovery will be shared by the Archaeology Department.
