Rafi-ud-Darjat Silver Rupee Sold for INR 20,000

Rafi-ud-Darjat was the 10th ruler of Mughal Empire. He sat on the Mughal throne with the help of Sayyid brothers, after succeeding Farrukhsiyar in the year 1719 AD. Sayyid brothers wanted Rafi-ud-Darjat to be their puppet and also tried their best to reduce his power. Rafi-ud-Darjat was very intelligent but he was controlled by the Sayyid brothers.During the reign of Rafi ud darjat revolt took which was successfully suppressed by Sayyid brothers. Rafi ud-Darjat was succeeded by his brother Rafi-ud-Daula, Rafi-ud-Daula is also popularly known as Shah Jahan II.
This Silver Rupee minted in Dar-ul-Khair Ajmer during the 1st year of his reign was sold for INR 20,000 by Oswal Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka zad Ba Hind Ba Hazaraan Barkaat Shahanshah Bahar-o-Bar Rafi-ud-Darjaat’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Zarb Dar-ul-Khair Ajmer Sanah Ahad Julus Maimanat Manus.
