Officials revealed that local banks of Macau are going to release new banknotes worth MOP11.3 billion. The budget of MOP620 million for 2018 is allocated only to print banknotes.

The cost for design, papers and security features are included in the budget. It also takes into consideration the prospect of the economy and demand for banknotes.

The banks which issue new banknotes will have to pay the same amount to AMCM as a preparation amount or foreign reserve. This money will be used for investment or deposited in banks for generating some income.
