APMEX recently released the 2018 Canadian Maple Leafs Coins.The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf coin in 1979. It honoured Queen Elizabeth II and also depicted the most loved symbol of Canada, the maple leaf. The coins became very popular in the next 10 years and a 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf was introduced in 1988. Minor changes have been made to the original design, like the introduction of a privy mark and a radial-line background.The coins are made of .9999 fine Gold or .9999 fine Silver, making them popular among collectors as well as investors. The latest silver coin is available as single flips, MintDirect Singles, 25-coin MintDirect Tubes, 100-coin Mini Monster Boxes or sealed 500-coin Monster Boxes. The gold coin is available in single flips, MintDirect Singles or 25-coin MintDirect Tubes. Gold coins are available in different sizes as well like 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz.
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse depicts the classic maple leaf design which remained the same since the coin’s introduction.
