Highly Graded 1945-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Auctioned for Above $17,000

An 1892-S Morgan silver dollar, graded MS 67 with a green CAC sticker was sold for $470,000 at Regency Auction XXIII by Legend Rare Coin Auctions on 26th October. An 1893-S Morgan dollar graded PCGS MS-67 with a green CAC sticker, could not reach its estimated value of $1.3 million to $1.5 million.A 1945-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, graded Mint State 67+ with a CAC sticker was sold for $17,037.50. The coin was sold for more than its estimated value of $10,000 to $11,000. Only two such coins exist and there are no coins of this type which are graded as PCGS MS-68.
The clean surfaces have minimal marks. The right field on the obverse is also remarkably clean. Over 10 million coins of this type were minted. Coins graded as MS-66 have a market value of less than $200. There are very few coins of this type which are graded MS-67, making them a condition rarity.
