Interesting Stamps to be Offered at Rapp Auction in Switzerland

On 15th and 16th November, the Rapp auction firm in Wil, Switzerland, will be offering a cotton market report from Liverpool with the 1845 2½-rappen tri-colour Basel Dove stamp, mailed as a local letter in 1848. The offered stamp has bright fresh colours and a distinct relief of the embossed dove. The document has a circular red Basel postmark dated 31st March 1848. The typographed and embossed Basel Dove stamp has a listed value of $300,000 in the Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue of Stamps and Covers 1840-1940. The offered stamp has an estimated value of $15,150 to $20,220.Three unused examples of the 1935 10-centime on 15c deep green and light green Disarmament Conference airmail stamp with inverted surcharge is another offering at the auction. One of the three is a mint stamp with attached margin selvage at right. The unused inverted surcharge error has a listed value of $6,500 in the Scott Classic Specialized catalogue while the auction house will be offering it with an estimated value of $1,515 to $2,020 for the margin example, and $606 to $808 for the other two stamps.
A 10-rupee rose brown and brown Gandhi stamp with “SERVICE” overprint is also offered at the event. Only 100 such stamps exist today and many of them are with private owners. The stamp comes along with a 1968 Alberto Diena certificate and has an estimated value of $10,110 to $20,220).
