Ahmad Shah Bahadur was the son of Muhammad Shah. He sat on Mughal throne in the year 1748 at the age of 22. When Ahmad Shah Bahadur sat on the Mughal throne, Mughal Empire was collapsing. He ruled Mughal Empire for almost six years. He was deposed by Vizier Feroze Jung III who later blinded him along with his mother. He spent the remaining years of his life in prison and died in the year 1775 at the age of 50.This gold mohur which weighs around 10.9g is listed for INR 36,000 in the upcoming Auction of Todywalla which will be held on 4th November 2017 in Mumbai. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king with Hijri year 1164. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with mint name ‘Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad’ with regnal year 4.
