Switzerland released a souvenir sheet on 7th September featuring a panoramic view of Creux du Van. This huge natural rock amphitheater sits between the cantons of Neuchatel and Vaud. Swiss Post officials stated that Creux du Van is a tremendous spectacle of nature with rocky walls, 525 feet above the valley floor.

Photographer Roland Gerth, who captured the image, visited Creux du Van several times during different seasons of the year. The photo that appears on the stamp was taken after spending a night there and capturing the east-facing rocky cirque at sunrise. The photographer thinks that the cloudy skies added to the photo’s beauty.
