Fantasy Ceylon Coin from the 1970s Auctioned

Fantasy and counterfeit pieces like the Ceylon four-rixdollars have always been popular among collectors. They were made in the 1970s using different metals in the US by a coin dealer named Frank A. Lapa. One of these silver coins, dated 1812 was sold for $411.25 by Stephen Album Rare Coins’ auction that was held on 14th and 15th September. The example weighs 10.04 grams, is toned and is graded About Uncirculated. The consignor says that it is very rare and portrays historical numismatic chicanery.Latest News
