As per a new Act that was introduced on 17th July, 500,000 silver dollar coins will be released to celebrate the life and works of the 35th president of USA (1961-1963) - John Fitzgerald Kennedy, The coins would be made of 90% pure silver, weigh 26.73 grams and have a diameter of 1.5 inches. The coin design would be symbolic to the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy”. The 60th anniversary of Kennedy’s election to office would be observed in 2020.

The Commission of Fine Arts, Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the Treasury Department would seek advice from John F. Kennedy Library Foundation to finalise the coin design. Proof and Uncirculated versions will also be available.

A surcharge of $10 from the sale would be donated to the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
