Look Out for $1 Woodrow Wilson Error Stamps
2017-09-21 Thu
The US 1938 Presidential series is popular among general U.S. collectors or specialists who are interested in single-use or unusual destination covers. There is not much demand for mint or off-cover used single Prexies. However, the $1 Woodrow Wilson stamp on paper watermarked “USIR” is an interesting add-on for your collection. The normal stamp was printed on unwatermarked paper to create an error variety. It is watermarked for use by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The market value of this error stamp is $200 in mint never-hinged condition, at $120 in unused hinged condition, and at $65 in used condition. You could also look for used stamps with interesting cancellations. Stamps with ugly cancellations that spoil the design should be avoided.
