2017-09-19 Tue
Australia’s latest $10 note will come into circulation tomorrow. Officials claim that the new notes come with cutting-edge security features to curb counterfeiting activities. The notes celebrate two of Australia’s most prominent writers Dame Mary Gilmore and AB ‘Banjo’ Paterson. The design also includes other elements of their works. The size and colour palette is similar to the current $10 banknote.Security features include top-to-bottom window with many interactive elements, a patch with a rolling colour effect, fluorescent ink and raised printing. Tactile features are included for the vision-impaired community. Governor Philip Lowe’s signature will appear for the first time on an Australian Banknote. The existing $10 notes will be slowly removed from circulation but will still be legal tender.
The new $50 banknote could be released in late 2018 while the other denomination notes will be released after that.
