Colourful Monarch Butterfly on Latest Canadian Coins

The Royal Canadian Mint released a Proof 3-ounce .9999 fine silver $50 coin featuring a monarch butterfly on 5th September. This special butterfly is well-known for migrating to long distances in the insect world.The butterfly is rendered in orange-and-black colours flying towards milkweed which is where the butterfly deposits its eggs that will exclusively sustain the caterpillar. The detailing of both the butterfly and milkweed is outstanding.
Other inscriptions on the reverse include 50 DOLLARS and the year 2017. The obverse depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. The 94.4 grams coin has a mintage limit of 3,500 pieces and each coin costs $299.95 Canadian.
