Heinrich Koehler offers an 1870 Envelope Sent from Paris to Yokohama

The 365th auction by Heinrich Koehler Stamp Auction House in Wiesbaden, Germany will be conducted from 25th to 30th September. One of the highlights include a cover from Paris that was sent to Yokohama, Japan with a 1867 80-centime rose Emperor Napoleon III stamp, tied by a star cancel.A postmark reads “PARIS R. DES Vlles Hdrttes” and is dated 25th October 1870. A Marseille transit mark is dated 2nd November and Yokohama arrival mark is dated 25th December. The imperfections on the envelope are improved at right. It is a very odd destination for Ballon Monte mail. The envelope comes with a 2006 Roger Calves certificate and has a starting bid of €10,000.
