Jahandar Shah was a son of Bahadur Shah I, he sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1712 and ruled it till 1713. After the death of Bahadur Shah in the year 1712, he managed to sit on a Mughal throne with the help of Zulfiqar Khan. Jahandar Shah was very weak and pleasure seeking Emperor who led frivolous life and neglected the state affair. In the year 1713, he was defeated by Farrukhsiyar the second son of Azim-ush-shan in the battle at Agra with the help of Sayyid brother.

This extremely rare gold mohur which weighs around 11.9g, minted at Solapur was sold for INR 3, 75,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Pune on 10th December 2016. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and legend of the king with AH 1124 and reverse of the coin is inscribed ‘Julus Maimanat Manus sanah Ahad Zarb Solapur’
