World War I American Veterans Centennial silver Dollar Design to be Out in October

A competition was held to select designs for 2018 World War I American Veterans Centennial silver dollar in February 2016. The designs of the commemorative coins will now be publically out on 9th October in Washington D.C. along with the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and exposition.Obverse and reverse designs for five American Armed Services 1-ounce .999 fine silver medals celebrating the five branches of the U.S. military, will not be released on that day. The medals will be produced separately by the U.S. Mint.
Designs for the silver dollar were approved in 2016 after a public design competition. The designs were finalised by three members of the Commission of Fine Arts, three from the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, and the Treasury secretary or his designate.
Up to 350,000 Proof and Uncirculated versions of commemorative dollars will be struck in .900 fine silver. A $10 surcharge will be added to every sale. The surcharges would be donated to World War I Centennial Commission “to assist the World War I Centennial Commission in commemorating the centenary of World War I.”
