It was like the gates of paradise opened for coin lovers and collectors at the 26th South Indian Numismatic Society’s annual conference on 30th January 2016, organised by Centre for Heritage Studies, Hill Palace, Tripunithura. The conference showcased some of the most ancient and beautiful coins of India, like the commemorative coins of Tanjavur temple, the ones made in Hyderabad during the times of the East India Company and some coins of the Chola period. The exhibition also displayed very tiny coins like the Amman Kashu of Tamil Nadu, all of which reflected the rich and vibrant history of India.
Not just Indian coins, antique coins from China, Netherlands, Poland, Kenya, Russia and Germany were the other showstoppers.
