The Central Bank of Ireland will be releasing the Sir Charles Algernon Parsons €15 silver proof coin online from 1st September 2017. The coin can be purchased for €60. It is the third coin belonging to the "Irish Science and Inventions" series. The coin honours life and works of Sir Charles Algernon Parsons, engineer.The reverse features the portrait of Sir Charles Algernon Parsons engineer with the model of his steam turbine engine. It also depicts the inscription and a representation of turbine blades. The mintage limit of this 28.28g .925 Sterling Silver coin is 6,000 pieces and it comes in a special package along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
