Meghalaya Caves: The new tourist attraction

Meghalaya meaning ‘the abode of clouds’ is a beautiful state of India. It is known for its natural beauty and wild life. There are also caves which date back to millions of years. They are amongst the longest cave of the world. These caves have become the source of attraction and study. Speleologists throughout the world are taking interest in the Meghalaya caves, to study their features, makeup, physical property, history, life form, etc.Caving has become a new sport altogether and gradually popularizing it through the caves of Meghalaya. These caves which are having touristic and scientific attractions are facing threats of vandalism and unchecked mining activities. Limestone mining has become a major threat to the caves. The Meghalaya Government is taking various steps to prevent and conserve these beautiful Caves.
Realizing the importance of these caves India Post issued a stamp on the Caves of Meghalayaof INR 5 on 15th August 2017.
