The Central Bank of Uzbekistan announced on 14th August that a 50,000-sum note is going to be released for circulation very soon.

The new note will feature flying storks in flight over a monument on Tashkent’s Independence Square. It also depicts a picture of Forum Palace that was built in 2009 with the help of late President Islam Karimov’s daughter, Gulnara. The value of 50,000 sum-note is less than $10. Experts believe that government should have long back released a 100,000 note since inflation has shot up considerably. Some experts claim that these notes will make people’s life easier by not having to carry bundles of banknotes every time. It would also save government’s paper and ink bills. 10,000 sum bills were introduced in February. 5,000 sum banknotes were released in July 2013. There are 500, 200 and 1000 sum notes as well. Market traders count several such notes at one go at astonishingly high speeds.
