New Australian $10 Banknotes to be Circulated on 20th September

On 14th August, officials of Reserve Bank of Australia announced that the new $10 banknote will be circulated from 20th September 2017. The new notes will have similar security features as that of the $5 bank notes that were released last year.Security features will include a clear top-to-bottom window and a tactile feature to help the vision-impaired members identify the denomination. Famous Australian writers Dame Mary Gilmore and AB ‘Banjo’ Paterson will continue to be featured on the new $10 banknotes as well.
Cash handlers, businesses and machine manufacturers are being asked to recalibrate equipment to accept new banknotes. Machines that take or dispense banknotes are also being recalibrated. The existing series of banknotes and all earlier banknotes will remain legal tender.
