The 20th death anniversary of Princess Diana was observed with the release of special coins by Pobjoy mint for Ascension Island. The reverse depicts Diana Rose or England’s Rose. A cavity is struck into the coin inside which a carved piece of mother of pearl in the shape of the rose is fixed. The colour of the Mother of pearl is different for each coin. The obverse depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Princess Diana died in a tragic accident on 31st August 1997. The 999. Fine Silver coin has a mintage limit of just 2,017. A Virenium edition in light gold colour has a mintage limit of 10,000.

Ultra-High-Relief coins in 2oz 999. Fine Silver Piedfort has a mintage limit of 850. Out of these coins, 250 have a reverse frosted image and are already SOLD OUT. A 1/2 oz. UHR Fine 999. Gold Piedfort are also not available.

On 29th July 1981, Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles exchanged vows at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Diana was shy earlier but soon became people’s princess. She attended her royal duties dedicatedly. Her funeral procession was held from Kensington Palace to Westminster Abbey on 31st August 1997. People came in large numbers to witness this event and pay their homage.
