The 1802 Draped Bust half dime is a key early half dime. Earlier, experts claimed that its mintage as 13,010, Now, there are some who claim that the mintage is 3,060 only. The known examples are struck from a single die pair. 32 distinct varieties have been identified recently.1802 Draped Bust half dime, Very Good 8 was sold for $117,500 at an auction. This problem-free coin has rich toning in dove and charcoal gray. There are a few abrasions on the coin and pin scratches. These scratches are old and toned over. These imperfections on extremely rare coins are acceptable. The coin was discovered in the 1970s and belonged to a local farmer in Maryland. It is listed as February 2014 Americana Sale Specimen in Amato’s book.
