Muhammad Shah was the grandson of Bahadur Shah. With the help of Sayyid brothers, at the age of 17, Muhammad Shah sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1719 and ruled it till 1748. Later he got rid of the Sayyid brothers with the help of Asaf Jah I. Sayyid Hussain Ali Khan were murdered at Fatehpur Sikri and Hassan Ali Khan Barha was fatally poisoned in the year 1722. He is often referred as ‘Muhammad Shah Rangila.This gold mohur issued by Muhammad Shah during the 14th year of his reign was sold for INR 50,100 at Todywalla Auction. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Mubarak Sahib Qiran Sani Muhammad Shah Badshah Ghazi; AH year’, AH date on the coin is not clearly visible. And the reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sana 14; Julus Maimanat Manus, Zarb Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad. Catch out details about similar coinon our site.
