Great Trail 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Released

A rectangular 2017 $25 Fine Silver coin celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 24,000 kilometre-long Great Trail was released by the Royal Canadian Mint. The trail will connect Canada from its Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic coasts. The coin was launched on 16th August at an event that took place near the Meewasin Trail section, in Saskatoon. Officials praised the passionate Canadians, volunteers, and donors who were involved in building the Great Trail.The 1.5 oz., 99.99% pure silver rectangular coin features two hikers in colour exploring The Great Trail of Canada. A coloured logo reads Trans Canada Trail. Other elements portray the different ways in which the Trail's landscapes can be enjoyed. The trail has agricultural lands under foothills; cycling on a rural trail; boating in wetlands; horseback riding; backpacking on a rocky terrain, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
Mintage is limited to 5,500 and each coin costs $159.95.
