2017-08-12 Sat
We all love those cute little baby elephants! Don’t we?But are you aware of it that 12th August is observed an International World Elephant Day?
This day asks people to support various conservation policies to help elephants, including improving enforcement policies to prevent the illegal poaching and trade of ivory, conserving elephant habitats, providing better treatment for captive elephants and reintroducing some captive elephants into sanctuaries.
In India, Elephant is worshipped as God. Ganesha is the most popular elephant headed deity and we all know the story of how he got the head of an elephant. The elephant is also mentioned in the Buddhist Jataka.
Elephants are the fun loving animal! So let us take care of them…Stop harassing, caging and using them for our greedy needs.
To commemorate this mighty animal, India Post issued a 30 Naya Paisa in 1963.
