Whitman Publishing released the second edition of the Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson Nickels, by Q. David Bowers which costs $19.95 USD. Some copies will be autographed by Bowers at ANA World’s Fair of Money that will take place from 1st to 5th August 2017.The book covers information about Nickel five-cent series: Buffalo nickels (1913 to 1938) and Jefferson nickels (1938 to date). Bowers shares detailed history and advice for collections with a date-by-date analysis. Information covered includes Mintages, specifications, strike quality, technical aspects; market values in multiple grades; and high-res images of important overdates and other die varieties. 941 images with photographs of every coin by date and mintmark are printed in the book.
The new edition has 32 extra pages with more photographs, information on die varieties, new retail market values, and the latest U.S. Mint data. The new appendices share information about the Depression-era and modern hobo nickels. It also talks about James Earle Fraser’s nickel design that was used for American Buffalo 24-karat gold coin series; and “Nickels Here and There”
