Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can! This time though, Spiderman has done something more, he has appeared on special coins of Cook Islands. ModernCoinMart and GovMint.com have come together to celebrate the latest movie Spider-Man: Homecoming with the release a Proof 1-ounce .999 fine silver $5 coin, Proof 5-ounce .999 fine silver $25 coin and Proof 1-ounce .9999 fine gold $200 coin for the Cook Islands. The coin features former United States Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti’s common reverse design.The coin depicts one of the world’s most popular superhero Spiderman, swinging ahead with a large web in the background. Other inscriptions include Mercanti’s initials, the metal content, Marvel copyright, name of the movie, date and the face value. The obverse depicts the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coins were struck at Mayer Mint, Germany.
The 1-ounce silver $5 coin has a mintage limit of 5,000 pieces and costs $69.95. The 5-ounce silver $25 coin has a mintage limit of 1,000 pieces and can be purchased for $349. The gold $200 coin has a mintage limit of 250 pieces and costs $2,795. Encapsulated examples of the coins, graded by NGC., are also being sold.
