Silver Square Coin of King Lakshmi Simha

Assam the land of Brahmaputra, it is a place of incomparable beauty but when it comes to its coinage, one could not stop marvelling at this fine piece of art. This silver square coin shown beside was issued by King Lakshmi Simha of Ahom dynasty. He was also called Sunyeophaa.The obverse of this coin depicts a legend in Bangla ‘Sri Sri Hara/Gauri chora/narabinda/madhu kurasya within dotted border. The reverse of this coins a bangle legend is inscribed ‘Sri Sri swarga/Deo sri Lakshmi/Simha Nripasya/sake. Date 1693 depicted at the right lower corner. On the bottom of the reverse side, a lion is depicted in a seated position and facing left within dotted border.
This coin will be up for bidding in the upcoming auction of the Classical Numismatic gallery on 12th August 2017 in Ahmedabad. So go ahead and be the fortunate one to grab this fortune.
