Look Out For Jane Austin Coins!

The 20th death anniversary of famous author Jane Austen will be observed with the release of special commemorative £2 coins. The coin will feature a silhouette of Jane Austen and her signature over ‘Regency’ wallpaper. New plastic £10 note featuring Austen will also be unveiled today.The limited edition coins will be circulated around Hampshire, in areas which are related to the renowned writer. She is buried in Winchester Cathedral while the Jane Austen museum is situated in Alston. The coins will be released in these cities apart from Basingstoke. Uncirculated editions are made of gold and silver which can be purchased from the Mint directly.
The designer was inspired by the houses featured in Jane Austen’s books. The frame could have been placed on a wall of a corridor in Pride and Prejudice, or on the wall of Emma’s home.
Limited edition coins like these are sold for hundreds of pounds and collectors are always on high alert to own them.
