Printing of Rs 200 Notes has Begun
2017-07-03 Mon
There have been reports that the RBI is in the process of printing Rs 200 notes – the first of its kind denomination that would be circulated in the country ever. The new Rs. 200 notes are expected to make transactions easier since the high-valued Rs 2,000 notes cannot be regularly used for day to day transactions. The RBI has not yet released an official report for the introduction of these notes as of now.Apart from Rs 200 notes, there also have been speculations that new Rs 1,000 denomination would be arriving very soon. Some reports claim that the printing of these notes began in February and was under production in January. The process was halted since there was a huge demand for Rs. 500 notes.
It has been 10 months since Prime Minister Narendra Modi demonetised existing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 which made up 86 percent of the total circulating money at the time.
