Last century of Indian history is painted with the tales of British Raj. It's quite unbelievable that a small Isle of Great Britain can rule a massive empire like India. It was the radiance of Indian wealth that bought these foreign traders to the Indian shore who interfered in Indian politics and hold the bridle of Indian administration. It was a time when the wealth of the Ganga was flowing through the Thames. The British divided Indian in Presidency and Princely states for better administration. Presidencies were directly under the control of British but the Princely state till had their Kings as the representatives of British's, it was an indirect control over Indian royal houses and their people.
One such state was the Princely state of Alwar, its royal line belongs to Narula Lalawat clan of Rajput dynasty. Alwar was established by Rao Pratap Singh of Macheri.
Alwar was the first princely state to use the coin from the Calcutta minted issued under British Rule. During the Anglo-Maratha War, these states sided with the East Indian Company and maintain a good political alliance with British till 1947.
During that time many states issued Postal stamp. Alwar was one among these states to issue stamps. The above-shown picture depicts the postal stamp of Alwar.
In 1948 Alwar state became a part of Matsya Union and joined the Independent Union of India on 15th May 1948.
