Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary with the release of special 2017-dated coins which are now in circulation. A nation-wide contest was held to finalise the design of these coins and five of them were released last November namely, 5-cent Living Traditions, 10-cent Wings of Peace, 25-cent: Hope for a Green Future, One-dollar: Connecting a Nation and Two-dollar: Dance of the Spirits.

Some 25-cent and two-dollar coins are coloured. The two-dollar coin is the world's first coloured bimetallic coin and the first circulation coin to feature glow-in-the-dark technology. A big collector coin program is also launched to celebrate this momentous occasion.
